I EXPECTED

I expected you to feel my sadness, and for you to care,
But all you ever gave me, was just more despair.

I expected you to see my face, and my eyes in such pain
Instead I got another reprimand, and your disdain,

I expected you to hug me, and you to help me feel better,
But I just got her anger, that made me regret her,

I expected it would be harder for me to just walk away,
But now that I have, Ive forgotten her, and as now I smile every day!

I still love doing the things in my life that bring me joy. Like being a father, a friend, creating new music, or a new poem. Creating a good meal to share with family and friends.
